COMMENTS ON MORENO'S TRANSFERENCE AND TELE

COMMENTSAbstract
I have read Dr. J. L. Moreno's article on "Transference, Countertrans- ference and Tele" with great interest. He makes several points that it seems to me have needed eluoidation for a long time. The first of these points concerns the usage of the words transference and countertransference and the implication that the projections of the therapist are somehow secondary to those made by the patient. It has been my impression that projections made by the therapist upon the patient are not necessarily a consequence of, or a response to, projections made upon him by the patient. They tend to arise spontaneously, because in some way the patient hits a blind spot in the therapist. As Dr. Moreno points out, the same projection phenomenon occurs in social relationship, sometimes unilaterally, sometimes bilaterally.
