PATIENT PARTICIPATION IN THE NATIONAL ELECTION

Abstract

One of the objects of this study was to find out whether the increased degree of reality contact in the "improved" or "convalescent" patient would be reflected by an increased response to important environment events. From a different viewpoint, one might observe the effects of different approaches to patient groups, using varying degrees of patient participation in a meaningful environmental occurrence.

The three groups would serve as mutual controls with the previous understanding of their limited value as control groups, since their composition in terms of mental health and social adjustment was different. These groups had in common only about equal prevalence of schizophrenic reaction over other disorders and the exposure to the same psychiatric and medical personnel.
