"What's that? You say you can get training in how to be a more effective member of a group? Is that the same as group therapy?" In this question is the key to the present special issue of Group Psychotherapy. Group training and group therapy are two distinctly different approaches to problems of adjustment. Both use participation in a group situation as a fundamental learning experience, but for different purposes. Some of the differences are drawn into relief here to permit evaluation of the distinctive features of each.
