.Abstract
There seems to be a polarization in the approaches of role playing practitioners in industry. On tbe one hand there are those who ask too little from the technique. They seem content to use role playing as a didactic instrument with which they "prove" things about interviewing, disciplining and human relations. It is questionable whether the efforts of the first group can be considered action training. They use "canned" cases, printed scripts, and conclusions to be reached are predetermined. Their use of role playing is so structured and controlled that it becomes an analytical tool.
