Abstract

For some time, group psychotherapy and psychotherapy in general have been subjected to a constant critical barrage pleading for research. The feeling has been that there has been too much doing and not enough knowing. Even a cursory review of the literature for the last few years, however, will convince almost anyone that the trend is very clearly in the direction of satisfying these criticisms. Research of all sorts is going on, much of it directly aimed at dealing with the problems of therapy and with the problems of knowing more about it.
