Abstract

It is not surprising to learn that personality changes result from group psychotherapy, especially since many procedures which appear to be bizarre have shown evidence of therapeutic success. The explanation for some of the reported successes of various techniques may be that there is a readiness in some individuals to effect personality changes which are set off by a variety of stimuli when perceived by the patient as potentially effective. The element of autochtbonous suggestion may be much more important in psychotherapy than commonly believed
