Keywords:
AdolescentsAbstract
In this article, the authors discuss the importance of games for the social and emotional development of children and adults, and the therapeutic use of games, with references to the literature. The article specifically focuses on the value of group therapy in which the therapist uses verbal games in a psychiatric setting with late adolescents who suffer from maladjustment to their environment. These
games are administered in the setting of a hospital day-ward, which provides a therapeutic milieu with a multidisciplinary approach. The authors describe and analyze the games, discussing their value as both a therapeutic and a diagnostic tool.
