This article suggests four family communication stimulus activities that can be used in educational or group settings. The four exercises are (1) The Family as a System, (2) Communication Networks, (3) Draw a Family Tree, and (4) Fictional Families. By experiencing these exercises, participants can gain insight into family dynamics and their own behaviors as family members. These
exercises can be used in a variety of settings and by facilitators with little or no training in psychodrama. While some of these exercises could be adapted for psychodramatic warm ups, others, such as the fictional-family technique, can be utilized as a long-term activity.
