Life-Skills Training in Education

This article takes a historical look at the life skills in education movement and makes recommendations for future directions.
Specific affective education and social skills training programs contributing toward a systematic and visible lifeskills curriculum are described. Elements of life-skills training in both the mental health and education fields are discussed, and interaction between life-skills training efforts in these two fields is noted and encouraged. Finally, considerations for implementing life-skills training programs in education are presented.
